Role Overview
Dar-us-Salaam is seeking a Freelance Graphic Designer who can work across multiple projects and deliverables.
This role supports the full lifecycle of our initiatives, from promotion and lead-up materials to event assets, recaps, and follow-up communications.
The Graphic Designer will work closely with the Director of Strategic Communications and collaborate with social media, events, and communications team members as needed.
This role is execution-focused and requires flexibility, organization, and strong design fundamentals.
Scope of Work
This role may support design needs across:
- Events and programs
- Educational and community initiatives
- Fundraising and donor communications
- Internal and external campaigns
Responsibilities
- Design event flyers, promotional graphics, and visual assets
- Create social media graphics to support campaign lead-ups and ongoing promotion
- Design recap and thank-you visuals following events or campaigns
- Resize and adapt existing designs for different formats, including email banners, social media, and web use
- Maintain consistency with Dar-us-Salaam brand guidelines across all projects
- Deliver organized, ready-to-use design files

- Attention to detail when resizing and adapting designs for different platforms
- Openness to feedback and iterative improvements
- Strong command of the English language, including clear writing, proper grammar, and the ability to communicate ideas effectively within an English-speaking professional context

- Works directly with the Director of Strategic Communications

Required Qualifications
- Portfolio demonstrating a range of design work (flyers, social media, banners, etc.)
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent tools
- Strong understanding of layout, hierarchy, and visual clarity
- Ability to manage multiple small to mid-sized design requests
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with nonprofits or mission-driven organizations
- Familiarity with campaign-based design workflows
- Experience preparing assets for both digital and print use
Compensation
- Compensation will be discussed based on scope, frequency of work, and experience
