Unlimited Friends Association (UFA) for Community Development is a social, developmental, and charitable institution that was founded in 2000, driven by a sense of social, educational, and developmental responsibility towards the Palestinian family. After executing numerous community activities with the institution’s self-efforts in the social and family fields, the institution expanded and developed its idea. It was officially established in 2003 under the Charity Associations and Civil Society Organizations Law No. (1) of 2000 and its executive regulations.

Job Title: Health and Nutrition Program Coordinator

Job Duration: Six months, renewable

Staff Reporting to This Position: Health and Nutrition Program Staff

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Health and Nutrition Program Coordinator is to ensure the smooth running of the project, within the allocated time frame and budget. The role typically involves planning specific project activities, monitoring progress, coordinating meetings, and supervising project team members. The coordinator ensures that humanitarian activities are evidence-based and comply with technical field standards. Depending on the situation, the coordinator participates in all emergency phases, from the initial acute phase to transition and recovery, and supports the technical programs from assessment and planning through to closure and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the Program Manager/Project Manager and participates in implementing various health and nutrition activities.
  • Lead and oversee the humanitarian efforts of the organization in the health and nutrition sector during emergencies, from inception to implementation and transition, ensuring that the programming meets or exceeds the established technical standards.
  • Lead the design and implementation of health and nutrition assessments in coordination with the MEAL department.
  • Provide technical guidance on appropriate health and nutrition activities and strategies, and develop sector-specific response strategies for acute and transitional phases of emergency operations in crisis-affected communities.
  • Assess local health and nutrition infrastructure and the capacity of service providers, identifying support needs, service gaps, and partnership opportunities.
  • Assist in resource mobilization by designing, drafting, and reviewing concept notes and technical proposals for health and nutrition emergency operations and related programs as needed.
  • Develop partnerships and ensure effective coordination with local service providers, local government authorities, and international organizations working in the health and nutrition sectors, attending cluster group meetings.
  • Work with operations staff and partners to ensure proper procurement, handling, and management of goods, in line with health and nutrition supply chain protocols.
  • Monitor UN agencies' reports (e.g., UNICEF and WFP) to facilitate access to relevant food supplies in project areas and liaise with donors.
  • Lead the health and nutrition program budgets as assigned, including forecasting routine expenses and analyzing the pipeline.
  • Coordinate with other agencies, governmental bodies, and NGOs to implement and align common standards, ensuring effective response to protect the targeted populations.
  • Prepare weekly plans outlining all expected activities for the coming week.
  • Prepare monthly reports at the end of each month.
  • Ability to manage projects and deadlines efficiently.
  • Ability to create and interpret step-by-step plans and timelines.
  • Organizational skills for task division and time management.
  • Strong communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of risk management systems and quality assurance monitoring.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Planner, and other project management tools such as MS Projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical specifications for purchases related to the staff member's work and participate in bid evaluations when required.
  • Participate in technical evaluation committees for bids and tenders related to the staff member’s role or other committees as requested by the association's executive management.
  • Conduct meetings to determine market needs and stakeholder interests.
  • Adhere to Friends Without Borders Association's policies and regulations.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the nature of the work or requested by the Executive Director.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Achieving all strategic plan indicators for the program and the implementation plan, including:
    • Financial indicators, such as budget adherence, grant size, etc.
    • Program impact indicators as outlined in the program document.
    • Addressing internal and external audit findings.
    • Number and quality of development initiatives and ideas successfully implemented within the program.
    • Number of project proposals developed, accepted by the resource development department, and submitted to donors.
    • Number of media materials (success stories, press releases, etc.) published on the organization’s website.
    • Accuracy of data for program projects in the computerized management system and closure of projects on time.
    • Submitting donor reports on time and ensuring donor satisfaction with the quality of implemented projects and reports, ensuring continued support for the organization.
    • Adherence to the organization’s policies and regulations and respecting communication channels within the organization.

Required Skills and Experience: Education: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent internationally in Public Health, Human Development, International Development, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field. At least 3 years of relevant experience. Ability to work in challenging conditions and under pressure. Previous Experience: At least 3 years of professional experience in managing and coordinating development and emergency response programs. Experience in project management, program coordination, monitoring, and/or providing consulting services. Good knowledge of policies, institutional frameworks, and laws related to protection. Familiarity with PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) and Safeguarding standards. Experience in risk management. Proficiency in writing reports in both Arabic and English. Experience in general administration, team development, and writing technical and analytical reports. Experience in writing funding proposals. Experience in budgeting and budget management. Excellent communication and reporting skills. Information Technology Skills: Proficiency in using resource management systems and project management tools like Microsoft Project. Languages: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English
