The Palestinian Shippers Council is currently seeking to recruit a translators/ interpreters based in Ramallah

Responsibilities

  • Perform written translation from Hebrew to Arabic and vice versa.
  • Ensuring Arabic and Hebrew languages excellence and proofreading, including excellent Arabic and Hebrew language, vocabulary, syntax, expression and grammar as well as all relevant terminology.
  • Ensuring quality check and proofreading of translation; ensuring that no typographical errors are left in the final text.
  • The translation will encompass a comprehensive array of information, including but not limited to directives, official documents, and updates sourced from relevant authorities. This pertains to guidelines governing the export or import of Palestinian products, alterations in border points and crossings operations, logistical requisites, modifications to required export/import documentation as stipulated by relevant authorities, as well as revisions to standards mandated for the export or import of Palestinian products.
  • Producing an accurate translation of Hebrew text to Arabic. Content accuracy includes detailed comparison of content, facts and figures and making sure there are no omissions from the source; translations and proofreading all footnotes and/or endnotes, captions under photographs, lists etc.
  • The translation submitted to PSC under this TOR is the property of PSC and cannot be submitted, distributed to or used by any other party, unless arranged otherwise.
  • The translator is obligated to work within the required deadlines and be available to PSC for comments and corrections.

Required Qualifications: Proven experience in Hebrew – Arabic translation work. Proven experience in editing of documents Proven ability and capacity to deliver translations to meet tight deadlines. Minimum 5 years experience Previous experience with trade facilitation, customs clearing and import/export regulations. Preferably based in Ramallah Computer literacy essential (Word, Excel)
