MdM Switzerland, has been working in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) since 1994 in the sector of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), implementing emergency and development interventions, focusing on victim of occupation-related violence, children and detention, suicide prevention and management, strengthen of access to mental health cares at national and community level, and advocacy initiative.
YOUR MISSION
- To provide technical supervision of the implementation and integration of the MHPSS theme in the mission’s activities
- To ensure the operational roll-out of the intervention strategy, technical support, quality and relevancy of MHPSS services and response, as well as information relating to MHPSS.
- To directly or indirectly lead/supervise teams (MdM or partners)
YOUR POSITION WITHIN THE STRUCTURE

Technical supervisor: MHPSS Advisor at HQ
Managerial responsibility:
Functional responsibility: Program team and managers at mission level
YOUR ACTIVITIES
- Advise and monitor the quality and the impact of MHPSS interventions (monitor and adapt protocols, identify training needs, organize the referral procedure, etc.)
- Create and disseminate tools, guidelines and training and awareness-raising materials
- Provide technical supervision, capacity building and support for teams (MdM and/or partners), Promote technical development and ensure adherence to ethical and quality standards.
- Identify national and regional actors in the theme and leading the relevant network
- Be the technical representative of MdM with authorities, partners, and other NGOs
- Implement and monitor the collection of data, training teams, compile and analyze data
- Make recommendations and proposals to modify and adapt activities and identify opportunities to develop new activities
- Plan technical resources (logistics, finance, HR)
- Implement MHPSS monitoring at national and regional level
- Design and conduct needs and impact assessments, including data analysis and reporting, including to identify priority areas and gaps in MHPSS services.
- Provide technical support monitoring to the implementing partners.
- Contribute to writing MHPSS components of draft projects and donor reports.
- Participate in the strategy development of the mission.
- Represent MdM and ensure good relations are maintained and developed with stakeholders consistent with the principles of neutrality and independence of MDM, including local and national authorities, and other NGOs.
- Attend coordination meetings on relevant MHPSS matters or any external meetings delegated by the General Coordinator.
- Promote the fruitful and smooth coordination with the other MdM chapters in oPt, by working on ongoing and new projects, MHPSS harmonized tools and SOPs, building up and implementing a common MHPSS strategy, in close coordination with the General Coordination
- Support the design and planning of activities
- Support the implementation of activities that require technical expertise, following the field program needs
- Write activity reports, capitalization reports, summaries, etc.
- Analyze activity reports from MdM and/or partner teams
- Monitor the budget for these activities and contribute to the construction of the budget
- Contribute towards advocacy work
YOUR PROFILE
Academic and Working Experience:
Psychiatrist or Psychologist with complementary training relevant to MHPSS humanitarian and development programs, gender, gender-based violence, child protection, etc.
At least 3 years relevant professional experience in similar roles in humanitarian or development programs
At least 2 years’ experience in supervision and capacity building of MHPSS staff
Experience in department structuration (protocols, internal processes, quality development, capacity building, …)
Experience of direct and/or functional management and experience in remote management
In-depth understanding of the MHPSS challenges and main needs of the local context and familiarity with the humanitarian environment in Palestine
Experience in all phases of the Project Cycle Management, including need assessment
Experience in external coordination in the Palestinian context is a strong asset
Familiarity with MEAL-related tasks applied to MHPSS, is a strong asset
Capacity building and supervision strong skills, both in direct provision and in design
Strong skills in external coordination and technical representation
Very good report writing skills
Confident and proficient in the use of Office Pack, internet-related applications and social media
Experience with Kobo is an asset
Experience and familiarity with mission level internal dynamics, especially in terms of coordination between departments
Demonstrated commitment to upholding professional standards, including maintaining confidentiality, respecting ethical guidelines, and ensuring the well-being and safety of beneficiaries and staff
Fluent Arabic and English, both oral and written
