Communications & Fundraising Officer

Background:

Dalia Association is a community foundation that realizes our rights as Palestinians to control our resources for our own durable development for generations to come. Our mission is to mobilize and properly utilize resources necessary to empower a vibrant, independent, and accountable civil society, through community-controlled grant-making. Our community development approach focuses on the ecological, local economy, social and cultural dimensions.

Description of the Position:

The position is responsible for developing and implementing communication and fundraising strategies for the organization. Aiming to mobilize further resources for the organization programs and sustainability from foundations, community and individual givers, and prospecting donors. In addition effectively communicate the organization mission, approach and value, through the media relations and the organization platforms. 

Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Communications:

  • Develop and implement Dalia's communications strategy, with the goal of promoting the organization's mission and raising awareness of its activities and impact.
  • Lead the preparation of Dalia’s material (Handouts, posters, brochures, infographics, video productions)
  • Develop and continuous update of content over Dalia’s website (In addition to follow up to the development of the website in cooperation with the IT expert), social media channels, and other digital platforms, includes creating content, scheduling posts, engaging with comments 
  • Develop and distribute media content including press releases, success stories, newsletters, articles, publications, and other marketing materials to promote Dalia's activities and impact.
  • Plan and implement Dalia’s organizational events and support the programs team in implementing the events and activities upon need.
  • Document meetings, workshops, trainings, and other events
  • Develop relation with media outlets for media interviews, visibility and coverage
  • Responsible of Dalia’s archive and Gallery documentation  
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Dalia's communications efforts and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead the development and implementation of Advocacy and lobbying campaigns
  • Responsible for preparing Dalia’s narrative annual report and newsletters

2. Fundraising:

  • Development of the fund-raising strategy of Dalia association, and prepare portfolio of local and international donors, and community resource mobilization with ability to be key players in the community philanthropy and giving
  • Research for apply for Call of Proposals, concept notes and letters of interest to apply for.
  • Research and identify potential funding opportunities, grants, and corporate sponsorships aligned with the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Proposal writing, preparing concept notes and / or letter of interest.
  • Assist in developing the program’s design with the project coordinates and related departments.
  • Ensure the time submission and follow up with the approached partners
  • Develop and implement fund raising campaigns and events, including online crowdfunding, gala dinners, and charity auctions.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to track donations, grants, and fundraising expenses, and prepare financial reports as needed.
  • Provide support and guidance to volunteers, staff members, and board members involved in fundraising and communication activities.
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with partners, donors, private sectors partners

3. Networking:

  • Representing Dalia’s memberships in various local and international networks and providing them with updates about Dalia’s work on a constant basis as aligned with the director.
  • Maintain relationships with existing donors and respond to their requests regularly and keep updating them about the work of Dalia, in addition to arranging for meetings and visits.
  • Communicate and network with Dalia Friends and individual givers about Dalia’s progress and implementations.
  • Dalia participation / subscription of current networks and search of new potential networks that share Dalia’s vision and mandate

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communications, media, or relevant field; Master’s degree is preferred A Minimum of 3- 5 years of proven experience as a fundraising and communications officer Demonstrated skills and experience in the community sector in Palestine and understanding of current donors, Excellent fundraising, proposal writing skills and experience. Fluency of Arabic and English in speaking, reading, writing Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and with external partners. Knowledge in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, video editing is preferable Computer literacy and excellent organizational skills
